SPIELBERG, Austria -- Sebastian Vettel will take a five-place grid penalty at the Austrian Grand Prix after Ferrari changed his gearbox ahead of qualifying.

Under the regulations, gearboxes have to last for six consecutive events and by changing Vettel's in Austria the team has broken that cycle. As a result, he will start five place down from wherever he qualifies at the Red Bull Ring.

Vettel finished the dry first practice session as Mercedes' closest competitor and was fourth in the mixed conditions of the second session.
