Romain Grosjean will debut the 2016 Haas after its unveiling in the Barcelona pit lane on the morning of the first winter test of the year.
American outfit Haas joins the grid this season as a Ferrari customer and has confirmed it will take the covers off its new challenger on February 22. The team says its "simple and straightforward" reveal will feature Grosjean and team-mate Esteban Gutierrez unveiling the new car just over an hour before the first test begins at the Circuit de Catalunya.
Grosjean, who joins from what was the Lotus team, will get behind the wheel on the first and third day of the opening test. As part of an alternating schedule Mexican driver Gutierrez will drive on days two and four. In the second test, which runs at the same circuit between March 1-4, Gutierrez will drive on the opening two days before handing over to Grosjean.
Grosjean says the key focus from the first test will be accumulating laps ahead of the Australian Grand Prix on March 20.
"The first thing for the test is to get the car to run and to work well from there," he said. "Hopefully, we can get a lot of mileage. This is a new team, so we need to get everyone to work together, all the engineers, mechanics and the drivers. We need to get as much data and knowledge as we can. It's important to get the reliability sorted as early as possible because we don't get much testing and we're going straight to Melbourne."
Haas will be based in Kannapolis, North Carolina -- the same campus as owner Gene Haas' NASCAR team -- and Banbury, Oxfordshire.
