7.45pm And that concludes our live coverage of the first ODI. West Indies take a well-deserved 1-0 lead into the second match of the series, which will also be played at Kensington Oval, on Thursday. Do join us for that. Until then, goodbye!

Alzarri Joseph is the player of the match. "For me, it's a really good start to the year," he says. "It's just about putting in the hard work in training and doing the yards. My personal coach, Winston Benjamin, whenever I have something going on, I turn to him for advice. I kind of had an idea of how I wanted to bowl today, and I just kept it simple and bowled to my plans."

Nick P: "Feel like Lewis might have some words with Chase in the dressing room" -- Can you blame him for playing that lovely drive? I mean, give me a half-volley like that in the same situation, and I would (try to, and fail to) play that exact same drive.

7.35pm A most excellent finish to the game, but century or not, this was a lovely innings from Lewis, full of glorious strokeplay, especially square of the wicket on the off side, and through the covers. There were a couple of injudicious dismissals from the West Indies batsmen, but Ireland simply didn't have enough runs on the board. This was a pitch with some steep bounce in it, but otherwise it was pretty good to bat on.

McCarthy to Lewis, FOUR runs, ... IT NEARLY DOES! NEARLY! But it doesn't. Fullish, slanting away from off stump, and Lewis launches a big drive over extra-cover, only for the ball to land inches... INCHES... in front of the boundary. Lewis finishes unbeaten on 99

Dylan Laubscher: "actually a two and a six for Lewis would be easier to help him get to 100.. he cannot trust partner to block out over.. what if bowler bowls a wide or no ball" -- Yup, it could just work out that way...

McCarthy to Lewis, 2 runs, full, slanting away from off stump. Lewis drives with an open face, and he threads it past backward point, but has he hit it too well? Will third man, sprinting to his left, be able to stop the boundary? He does, and Lewis is on strike with the possibility of a century still alive

END OF OVER:

Rankin to Pollard, no run, shuffles down the pitch to a length ball outside off, and defends into the point region

The captain walks in.

Rankin to Chase, OUT, whoa, that came out of nowhere. This pitch has always had this in it. Digs it in short, and gets it to bounce brutally in the fourth-stump channel. Chase tries to sway away, tries to pull his hands out of the way, but can't prevent the ball kissing his gloves on the way through to the keeper

Rankin to Chase, no run, back of a length, angling in towards off and middle, defended to midwicket
32.3

Rankin to Chase, no run, back of a length on off stump, gets back and across to defend into the on side

So if Chase plays out a maiden, and if Lewis takes a single next over and the remaining five balls are dots, Lewis will have a chance to get to his hundred with a six.
