CORAOPOLIS, Pa. (AP) -- Scott Horcher returned an interception for a touchdown and Matt Swartz kicked three field goals to lead Dayton to a 23-12 road win over Robert Morris on Saturday.
Dayton (1-0) opened the scoring with a seven-play, 74-yard drive that was capped by Kevin Hoyng's 1-yard quarterback sneak with 5:38 left in the first quarter.
Dayton scored three times in the second quarter on field goals of 35, 27, and 40 yards by Swartz, and took a 16-6 lead into intermission.
Robert Morris cut Dayton's lead to 16-12 with a 15-play, 88-yard drive, which concluded with 10:02 left in the game. Rion Listhrop capped the message with a 2-yard touchdown run.
Horcher ended Robert Morris' comeback with a 27-yard return for a touchdown of an intercepted pass with 7:40 left.
Hoyng rushed for 73 yards on 15 carries. He also completed 14 of 36 passes for 120 yards.
Cwalinski completed 18 of 39 passes for 236 yards and a touchdown, but was intercepted once and sacked five times.
