Dolphins cut 11 players, trim roster to 78

The Miami Dolphins made 11 roster cuts Saturday.

Cornerback Brandon Harris, kicker Marshall Koehn and receivers Matt Hazel and A.J. Cruz were among the key names. Harris, Hazel and Cruz were competing to add depth to their respective positions, and Koehn battled Andrew Franks for the kicking job.

The Dolphins also released linebacker Akil Blount, center Ruben Carter, long snapper Ryan DiSalvo, tight end Gabe Hughes, cornerback Al Louis-Jean, receiver Brandon Shippen and guard Vinston Painter.

Miami now has 78 players on its roster and must make three more cuts before the 4 p.m. ET Tuesday deadline.
