Undrafted free agents: Bryce Callahan, CB; Jacoby Glenn, CB; Jonathan Anderson, LB; Christian Jones, LB; Cameron Meredith, WR; Senorise Perry, RB; Anthony Jefferson, S; Justin Worley, QB; Demontre Hurst, S; John Timu, LB.
Starts: Bryce Callahan (2); Jonathan Anderson (2); Christian Jones (11).
Highlights: The Bears shifted Jones (second NFL season) to inside linebacker in the offseason to fit Vic Fangio’s 3-4 defense, and the results are encouraging. Jones is one of the team’s leading tacklers and has learned to play in space. At only 24 years old, Jones is expected to start on defense for the next several years.
Anderson burst on the scene when Shea McClellin suffered a knee injury in Week 5. The TCU product has impressive speed and a nose for the football. Anderson intercepted a pass during his NFL debut in Detroit. Even with McClellin back in the lineup, the Bears still use Anderson in their nickel package. The Bears credited Anderson with a career-high 13 tackles in San Diego on Nov. 9.
Callahan supplanted Sherrick McManis as the club’s starting nickelback after the Bears elevated him from the practice squad. Callahan made a critical pass breakup in Chicago’s win at Green Bay on Thanksgiving. He is also a contributor on special teams. Callahan returned a punt for a touchdown versus the San Francisco 49ers, but the play got called back because of a holding penalty on LaRoy Reynolds.
Meredith has nine catches for 101 yards in nine games played.
