Ravens add TE Ryan Malleck, injury-waive CB Carlos Davis

OWINGS MILLS, Md. -- The Baltimore Ravens added some tight end depth following the injury to Dennis Pitta by signing Ryan Malleck.

An undrafted player out of Virginia Tech last year, Malleck has spent time with the New York Giants and Pittsburgh Steelers but has yet to make a 53-man roster. He was placed on injured reserve with the Giants in 2016 after suffering a neck injury, and he was cut by the Steelers last month after spending this year's offseason with them.

With Pitta re-injuring his hip this past Friday, the Ravens were left with two healthy tight ends in Nick Boyle and Crockett Gillmore for offseason practices. Ben Watson (Achilles) and Maxx Williams (knee) are expected to return for training camp. Darren Waller has been sidelined with an undisclosed injury.

Malleck also could provide help beyond tight end. At 6-foot-4, 249 pounds, Malleck lined up at fullback during training camp with the Giants last year.

To make room on the roster, the Ravens injury-waived cornerback-returner Carlos Davis. The undrafted rookie out of Ole Miss cracked a bone in his lower leg earlier this offseason.
