Without free agents at WR, Cardinals look to fill Michael Floyd's void

TEMPE, Ariz. -- Leading up to the start of free agency on March 9, we'll evaluate the situation at every position for the Arizona Cardinals. We'll look at who will return to Arizona in 2017, who's set to hit the open market, what the Cardinals need at each position, and we'll throw out a few potential options to fill those open roster spots.

Position: Wide receiver

Under contract: Larry Fitzgerald, Jaron Brown, John Brown, J.J. Nelson, Brittan Golden, Marquis Bundy, Aaron Dobson, Marvin Hall, Chris Hubert.

Pending free agents: None.

What's needed: All is calm in the Cardinals' wide receiver room. They don't have any pending free agents this year, but that doesn't leave Arizona without needs.

The Cardinals are still searching for a receiver to fill Michael Floyd's role, as well as his profile. They need a high-caliber receiver who's tall, strong and physical with some speed to work the sideline, compete for 50-50 passes as well as stretch the defense downfield. And said receiver needs to be able to take over as Arizona's WR1 when Fitzgerald decides to hang it up for good, which could be after this season.

The Cardinals could also be in the market for another small, shifty receiver while John Brown continues to get his health in order.

Either of these receivers could be found through free agency or the draft.

Possible fits: Alshon Jeffery (Bears), Robert Woods (Bills), Brandon Marshall (Jets)
