The Ospreys have confirmed they are interested in bringing James Hook back to the region.

Hook left the Ospreys for Perpignan in 2011 but following the French side's relegation to PROD2, a number of their top players are reportedly looking for a new club with Hook's Wales and club team-mate Luke Charteris included.

Hook has been linked with Bristol, London Irish and Gloucester but reports at the weekend threw the Ospreys' name into the mix. Any deal for Hook is reliant on the new Participation Agreement being signed between the regions and the Welsh Rugby Union. The talks over the new contract, which governs matters such as funding and player release, have been rumbling on for months but the current accord comes to an end on June 30.

That uncertainty is holding up any negotiations for the Ospreys as they also battle to keep hold of British & Irish Lions prop Adam Jones.

"[We] can't do anything until a new agreement is signed," Ospreys director Robert Davies told the BBC. "It would be nice to now sign him [Hook] and Adam as a big positive for Welsh rugby. We'll see."
