Pontypridd CEO accuses Cardiff Blues of 'arrogant contempt'
ESPN Staff
December 28, 2013

Pontypridd CEO Stephen Reardon has claimed the Cardiff Blues recruited their head coach and captain without making an official approach to the club.

The battle over the future of Welsh rugby is still in full flight with supporters of the four regions staging a protest against the Welsh Rugby Union ahead of the Boxing Day fixtures. And it seems all is not rosy between the regions and the Welsh clubs.

The Blues recruited Pontypridd's head coach Dale McIntosh as their new defence coach back in October while captain and second-row Chris Dicomidis signed for the Blues a month later, though according to Reardon, the approaches did not go through the official channels.

Reardon has hit out at the regions in a piece labelled 'Reclaim our Game' on the Pontypridd website - a response to the regions' protest called 'Protect our Game'.

Reardon wrote: "Is 'Our Game' the one in which a region holds a club in such arrogant contempt that it recruits the clubs' head coach and captain in mid-season without making an official approach to the club?"
