Roy Nelson: 'I'm always in the title picture'

Roy Nelson's next challenge will either be Daniel Cormier or Mark Hunt, UFC president Dana White revealed at Saturday's post-fight press conference.

Nelson took home the Fight of the Night award for an emphatic first-round stoppage of Cheick Kongo in the heavyweight division. He has now won his last three fights.

Big Country has designs on the world title but chose to leave it in White's hands as to who he fights next. And the president was in revealing mood about what the future might hold.

"Me and Joe (Silva, UFC matchmaker) never talk about fights the night of the fights, but we talked tonight," White said. "And we like Roy Nelson v Cormier; or Roy Nelson - if Mark Hunt wins - Roy and Mark.

"If he wants to get close to the title, those are the guys he's going to have to face. I know what he wants is a title shot, and I honestly think he deserves to get a fight with one of the top guys to get him closer to that or to get him that shot."

Cormier recently debuted in the UFC with a less-than-impressive decision win over Frank Mir. And the former Strikeforce man was quick to step up for the Nelson challenge.

"Hey @danawhite," Cormier tweeted. "You're right I think Roy Nelson and I would be a damn good fight. How about it @roynelsonmma?"

White also revealed Dos Santos will likely book a title shot against the winner of Cain Velasquez v Antonio Silva if he beats Hunt. However, should Hunt win, it is likely he will need one more bout - maybe against Nelson - before he challenges for UFC gold.
