Darren Elkins will fight Chad Mendes at UFC on Fox 7 after replacing the injured Clay Guida.

UFC featherweight Guida was injured in training and ruled out of his bout against Mendes, and it has now been confirmed Elkins - who defeated Antonio Carvalho at UFC 158 in Canada - will take his place for the battle scheduled for April 20 in San Jose, California.

Elkins' victory over Carvalho was his fifth in a row since switching from lightweight to featherweight a couple of years ago. Mendes lost out in a UFC featherweight title fight against Jose Aldo in 2012 but has since won both of his tussles, against Cody McKenzie and Yaotzin Meza.

UFC on Fox 7 will be headlined by reigning lightweight champion Benson Henderson and current strikeforce champion Gilbert Melendez.
