Frankie Edgar is determined to ensure his title shot at UFC 156 does not pass him by.

Edgar is coming into the fight on the back of two defeats, both to Ben Henderson, and he is also dropping down in weight to 145lb.

The 10lb drop is of no concern to Edgar, who claims he is "a disciplined guy and the weight has been easy to make."

He is wary of the threat posed by champion Jose Aldo but is ready to seize his chance in Las Vegas this weekend.

"I am super excited," he told ESPN. "I have a great opportunity. You do not get too many chances to fight for a title so I have to make the best of it.

"He is a dynamic fighter, very fast, very explosive. He is well rounded, he has good defence. My hands are full."

Asked on how he feels the fight will develop, Edgar said: "I want it to go my way. Whatever it my be, standing up or on the ground - I want to mix it up. I see myself as a mixed martial artist and I want to do it all."
