UFC commentator Mike Goldberg has revealed he expects to return to microphone duties on January 26, shooting down internet rumours that his health scare was of a sinister nature.

Goldberg missed the final event of 2012, pulling out of UFC 155 as Jon Anik stepped into his seat. President Dana White merely stated: "Goldie's out for a while," adding "and I don't know when he'll be back".

MMA Fighting claims the illness was linked to his respiratory system, but he is believed to be on the mend following a bout of treatment. Goldberg's condition was certainly not - as speculated on the internet - linked to drugs.

He said: "I'm doing well. Those rumours out there are not true. I'm dealing with a complicated health issue but feeling better and hoping to be back to 100 per cent by January 26 (UFC on Fox 6). See you soon."
