UFC president Dana White made one of his classic 'promises' on Saturday, saying Michael Bisping will "probably" get the next middleweight title shot if he beats Vitor Belfort.

Bisping heads into the January 19 event with Belfort off the back of a seriously impressive victory over Brian Stann in his last outing.

The win over Stann cemented the Brit's status as one of the top two contenders in the 185lb division, alongside Chris Weidman.

However, with Weidman out injured for several months, Bisping can press ahead for the No.1 contender spot with what would arguably be the biggest triumph of his career against Belfort.

"If Bisping wins, Bisping will probably will get that next shot," White said. "If not, we'll see what happens."

A win for Bisping would be his sixth in seven UFC fights, with the sole loss coming via a controversial decision to Chael Sonnen. If the Brit booked a title showdown with champion Anderson Silva, it would realise his lifelong dream to compete for a UFC belt.
