Dana White speaks at the UFC on Fox 5 press conference

UFC president Dana White made a series of surprising revelations at Thursday's UFC on Fox 5 press conference, including a claim that the winner of Alexander Gustafsson v Mauricio Shogun Rua will get the next light-heavyweight title shot.

White announced that female 135lb champion Ronda Rousey would headline UFC 157, and that Georges St-Pierre's next fight will almost certainly be against Nick Diaz.

Then the president was asked about Gustafsson v Rua, and he showered extra importance on Saturday's co-main event by saying the winner will take on the victor of Jon Jones v Chael Sonnen.

"Look at the fights that Shogun has had - his past two or three fights," White said. "This is definitely, there is no doubt about, he (Shogun) is the gatekeeper to that title.

"If Alexander can beat Shogun, he'd get the shot. If Shogun wins, he gets it. Unless some crazy sh*t happens, which always does - he has to take another fight before that because he wants to stay active or something - but other than that, the winner of this fight will get the next shot."

It is a surprising admission from White, with Lyoto Machida and Dan Henderson set to stand toe-to-toe at UFC 157. Henderson has long been a top contender in the division, while Machida's last fight - on the same night that Shogun fought - was said by White to have propelled him above his peers.
