UFC 155 has lost one of its headline fights, with Forrest Griffin to miss the clash with Phil Davis on account of injury.

Griffin and Davis were set to meet at light-heavyweight on the undercard to the main event between Junior dos Santos v Cain Velasquez.

However, UFC president Dana White has revealed Griffin has suffered a knee injury that will likely sideline him for some time.

"Forrest has MCL tear and ACL strain," White wrote on Twitter. "20 CCs of blood removed from his knee and the saga continues at the UFC!!"

UFC 155 takes place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on December 29.
