Former UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez claims Daniel Cormier wants to enter the UFC at light-heavyweight, and Velasquez is adamant his training partner would beat Jon Jones.

Cormier is soon to be heading for the UFC after winning the Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand Prix. He has one more fight to complete on his Strikeforce contract, before he must choose between the UFC's heavyweight or light-heavy division.

The former Olympian recently attempted to lure Jones into a TUF rivalry, only to see Jones get paired with Chael Sonnen. Nevertheless, Cormier still wants the 205lb king, and Velasquez is adamant he would take the title.

"He'd beat him," Velasquez told MMA Fighting. "He's fast. He's powerful. He has the best wrestling out there. I think he beats him wherever they're at."

Confirming Cormier's desire to fight at 205lbs, Velasquez confessed the one problem would be the diet, which currently is not listed as one of Cormier's strengths.

"I think he wants to drop down [to light-heavyweight]. He's been wanting that fight with Jon Jones for a while now. We've definitely talked about it.

"He's heavy right now. He's like 240lbs. But we'll clean up his diet really good, because the way his diet is, it isn't the cleanest. He's going to have to work a little bit at it, for sure.

"He just has to do it smart. The diet needs to be on-point. He can't be messing around with that kind of stuff. I think he can do it."
