Former Bellator middleweight champion Hector Lombard will fight submission expert Rousimar Palhares on December 14, UFC president Dana White announced on Friday.

The fight is part of UFC on FX 6, which will be held in Australia. UFC has yet to determine which city will host the event, although Brisbane and Melbourne are believed to be the two frontrunners.

Lombard will making his second appearance in UFC. His debut with the promotion occurred on July 21 against Tim Boetsch, which saw Lombard lose by split decision. The setback ended Lombard's 25-fight win streak. He has a mixed martial arts record of 31-3-1.

In his most recent outing, on May 5, Palhares (14-4) suffered a first-round TKO to Alan Belcher. He has submitted 10 of his opponents.

Reports indicate the final of The Ultimate Fighter: The Smashes will also be on the card for the event in Australia, as Britain's Ross Pearson takes on opposition coach George Sotiropoulos in the concluding bout of the Australia v UK event.

Sotiropoulos is hoping to rejuvenate his career having failed to fight in more than a year, while Pearson is looking to re-establish himself in the lightweight division having lost three of his last five fights.
