UFC lightweight champion Ben Henderson will have to prove his fitness to a physician before he returns to training after being handed an indefinite medical suspension.

Henderson, who earned a split-decision win over former champion Frankie Edgar at UFC 150, is one of eight fighters from Denver who have been handed suspensions on medical grounds.

Melvin Guillard was knocked out by Donald Cerrone at the Pepsi Center, and he was handed a 60-day suspension for his troubles.

Featherweight Justin Lawrence and middleweight Jared Hamman also face at least 60 days out of action, while Dustin Pague and Eiji Mitsuoka must sit out 45 days.

Henderson, meanwhile, will be keen to return to action to prepare for the next defence of his lightweight crown against Nate Diaz in December.
