UFC heavyweight champion Junior Dos Santos is set to make the second defence of his title against Cain Velasquez.

UFC president Dana White has confirmed that the pair are slated to meet at the final of event of the year on December 29.

White confirmed that Dos Santos wanted to step into the Octagon with Alistair Overeem, but with the former Strikeforce champion currently suspended, that fight has been put on the backburner until 2013.

Overeem's suspension with the Nevada State Athletic Commission ends on December 27, but it appears the UFC are unwilling to promote a fight featuring an unlicensed fighter.

It will be a repeat of the first UFC on Fox event last November, when Dos Santos knocked out Velasquez to get his hands on the title for the first time.

No venue for the event has been confirmed, but it is expected to be Las Vegas, where the last two end-of-year events have been held.
