Josh Koscheck is out of his UFC 151 co-main event with Jake Ellenberger due to injury.

The news was announced on Tuesday's UFC Tonight programme, and Ellenberger is yet to have a replacement opponent named. A bulging disc is the source of Koscheck's withdrawal.

UFC 151 is headlined by the light-heavyweight title showdown between Jon Jones and Dan Henderson. However, the card was significantly strengthened by the co-main of Koscheck v Ellenberger.

The UFC has 24 days to prepare a fresh opponent, meaning any new rival for Ellenberger will have to take the bout on extremely short notice. Certainly no other fight at present justifies co-main event status.

The potential exists for BJ Penn to fill the void after Rory MacDonald withdrew from his UFC 152 battle, but it is unknown whether Penn would be willing, or ready, to step in.
