Nate Marquardt claims he could clean up the UFC welterweight division and would have no issues taking on Georges St-Pierre.

Marquardt got his hands on the Strikeforce welterweight belt with a win over Tyron Woodley at the weekend and he is brimming with confidence.

"I really feel like it's my time. I'm one of the best in the world, and actually, I feel like I'm the best in the world, the best welterweight," Marquardt said. "This is a sport where everybody at this level is going to be tough. But I feel like I'm the best in the world, and that's who I expect I'll be fighting for my next fight."

St-Pierre is widely regarded as the best in the UFC 170lb division, but he has not fought since April 2011 and is still convalescing from his knee injury.

Marquardt has been a regular training partner of St-Pierre and would have no issues taking him on in the Octagon if the UFC, which previously cut Marquardt, would take him back.

"It's not a shot at Georges, personally," Marquardt added in reference to his claims of being the best in the division. "You know, we have talked about it, but we will have to cross that bridge when we get there."
