Bisping ready to prove himself against Weidman
Michael Bisping is keen to fight Chris Weidman in order to prove that he is the No. 1 contender in the UFC's middleweight division.
Bisping has been desperate for a world title shot for a number of years now, most recently losing a title eliminator against Chael Sonnen that saw the American go on to fight current division champion Anderson Silva.
Silva defeated Sonnen - for the second time in his career - earlier this month to retain his title, and is now looking for another challenger. Weidman threw his hat into the ring with an impressive victory over Mark Munoz in midweek, but Bisping is keen to ensure the 28-year-old does not leapfrog him in the queue to face Silva.
"Weidman looked great last night," Bisping said on Twitter. "But No. 1 contender? If that's the case I want to fight him and prove I'm the No. 1 contender. Let's do it."
Bisping has called out both Brian Stann and Alan Belcher in recent weeks - with both men appearing to accept the fight. However, the UFC has yet to announce who 'The Count' will step into the Octagon with next.
