The UFC's injury problems show no sign of abating after Jose Aldo had to withdraw from his UFC 149 main event against Erik Koch.

The July 21 card will instead by headlined by Urijah Faber's interim bantamweight title collision with Renan Barao, which had been planned for UFC 148.

Aldo's featherweight title defence against Koch has only been postponed, not cancelled, meaning Koch will remain the next challenger to the belt. However, there is no news on how long the Brazilian is likely to be absent.

The removal of Faber v Barao weakens a UFC 148 card that had been shaping up to be the strongest event of the year. Headlined by Anderson Silva v Chael Sonnen, it also features Tito Ortiz's farewell against Forrest Griffin.

Aldo's injury comes on the back of recent withdrawals from Michael Bisping, Thiago Silva and Brian Stann, forcing matchmaker Joe Silva into overtime to ensure the UFC continues to put on strong fight cards.
