Former two-division champion BJ Penn has shunned the offer of a bout against Josh Koscheck.

Koscheck claimed this week he had accepted the UFC's invitation for a fight with Penn, and was waiting for a response from his potential opponent. He did not have to wait long to receive one.

Penn tweeted: "I know it costs a lot of money to live that lavish lifestyle, big house, fast cars & you need big fights but sorry I'm not coming back anytime soon!"

UFC president Dana White is keen to see Penn back in action, and insists he will return at some point.

Penn has not fought since losing to Nick Diaz last October.
