Jose Aldo will not return to Brazil for his next fight after it was confirmed that the UFC featherweight champion will defend his title against Erik Koch in Canada at UFC 149.

Aldo had been expected to be added to the UFC 147 card featuring Wanderlei Silva and Vitor Belfort in June, but a source close to the fighter told MMAjunkie.com he would not be ready for that date. Instead he will take on the 23-year-old Koch on July 21 in Calgary.

It comes after Brazilian MMA fans were denied the chance to see middleweight champion Anderson Silva's highly-anticipated clash with Chael Sonnen - that bout will take place at UFC 148 in Las Vegas.

Aldo, currently on a 14-fight winning streak is looking to defend his UFC belt for a fourth time, while Koch has been fast-tracked to a title shot after Hatsu Hioki was matched with Ricardo Lamas at UFC on FX 4
