Antonio Rogerio Nogueira admits he is hoping to secure a fight with Rich Franklin, when the light-heavyweight pair are both clear of injury.

Nogueira had been scheduled to headline the next UFC card in Sweden, against 205lb up-and-comer Alex Gustafsson. However, a knee injury forced him off the card, with Thiago Silva stepping in.

Now Nogueira is eyeing his next rival, and he believes Franklin is an extremely good stylistic match-up for him. Both men are deeply respectful competitors, and they would make an intriguing stand-up battle.

"The doctor said my knee should be alright within a month. I'll be training 100 per cent. God bless me, I'll be fighting in June," Nogueira said.

"[I wish for a fight against Rich Franklin] because we had a bout scheduled against him, I was supposed to fight him in the past and I already know what game plan to use against him.

"He's a guy who likes stand-up. It'll be good. One southpaw fighting another southpaw is something good to see. It would be an excellent fight. I need a good fight."
