Dana White 'would love' to have Overeem in the UFC
UFC president Dana White would happily welcome Alistair Overeem into the UFC heavyweight division, if an agreement can be struck over the method of payment to management team Golden Glory.
Overeem departed Strikeforce under a cloud, and is now fighting away from MMA's two major promotions.
The problem between Zuffa, the parent company of Strikeforce and the UFC, and Golden Glory, centres on the way payment finds its way to Overeem's management team. Golden Glory want direct payment that filters through to the fighter, whereas Zuffa prefer to pay the fighters and allow them to disperse accordingly to the management team.
White hopes it is a problem that can be overcome, opening up the possibility for Overeem to fight the likes of Cain Velasquez and Junior Dos Santos in the heavyweight division.
"I would love to have Alistair Overeem in the heavyweight division," White told The MMA Show. "If we can come to a deal and we can make this happen and we can pay Alistair Overeem his check when he fights and he can pay Golden Glory, then absolutely we can do a deal."
