Top seed Tomas Berdych fought back to beat Leonardo Mayer 3-6 6-4 6-4 and reach the semi-finals of the Portugal Open on Friday, while second seed Milos Raonic lost to Carlos Berlocq 7-5 6-4.

Berdych broke Mayer six times in the match to overcome losing his own serve five times to the Argentine qualifier.

Berdych will next face Victor Hanescu at the clay-court event after the Romanian eased by Gastao Elias of Portugal 6-1 7-5.

Berlocq's win over Raonic was his first victory over a player ranked in the top 10.

Berlocq will play Daniel Gimeno-Traver in Saturday's other semi-final after the Spaniard eliminated countryman Marcel Granollers 6-1 6-2.
