Great Britain were beaten by Hungary in a deciding doubles encounter as their weekend in Budapest came to a disappointing end.

Great Britain were one of 17 nations in Hungary bidding to secure a play-off match for a spot in the World Group II. However, following their defeat to Romania on Friday, their hopes were ended as they could not finish on top of Pool B.

In the opening match of the day, Heather Watson took 75 minutes to overcome Reka-Luca Jani 6-4 6-1.

Johanna Konta meanwhile lost her singles rubber to Timea Babos, going down 6-4 7-6(5) 4-6.

So the tie would be decided on the doubles, and it turned out to be a disappointing match for the British pairing of Tara Moore and Jocelyn Rae lost 5-7 7-5 6-3.
