Britain's Dan Evans reached his first ATP Tour semi-final with a 6-4 2-6 6-4 victory over Philipp Kohlschreiber at the Zagreb Indoors.

Kohlschreiber saved two match points as Evans served for the match in the third set. However Evans held his nerve to see out he victory in two hours.

Evans - who was left out of Britain's Davis Cup team for their victory over the United States - becomes the first British player other than Andy Murray to reach a semi-final on a tour-level tournament since James Ward made the last four at Queen's Club in 2011.

He now faces either top seed Tommy Haas or Andrey Kuznetsov on Saturday. Croatia's Marin Cilic takes on Bjorn Phau in the other semi-final.
