Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and Alize Cornet combined to hand France a 2-1 win over the Czech Republic at the Hopman Cup in Perth.

Tsonga had earlier defeated Radek Stepanek 6-1 6-4 before the scores were levelled courtesy of Petra Kvitova's 6-1 3-6 7-5 win over Cornet.

However it was Cornet and Tsonga who emerged victorious against Kvitova and Stepanek in the mixed doubles, winning 6-1 6-3.

Elsewhere, Sloane Stephens and John Isner gave the United States a 3-0 win over Spain.

Isner saw off Daniel Munoz-de La Nava 6-3 6-4 after Stephens won nine of the final 10 games to defeat Anabel Medina Garrigues 6-3 6-1.

The Americans then joined up to win the mixed doubles matches, handing Spain consecutive 3-0 defeats.
