Heather Watson is into the semi-finals of Poitiers after coming from a set down to beat Alison Riske.

The Briton has returned to the ITF circuit by extending her season in a bid to recapture some form, and following a disappointing end to the WTA season Watson has recorded three wins on the spin for the first time this year to reach the last four with a 3-6 6-4 6-4 win.

After Riske had converted all three of her break points to clinch the opening set, Watson secured the break in the fifth game in the second and opened up a 4-2 lead. However, Riske hit back to level at four each. Watson crucially broke for a second time at 5-4 and closed out the set in her following service game.

Riske held the advantage in the final set with a 3-1 lead, but Watson came storming back for 3-3, and once again the Briton broke in the ninth game and held serve to clinch the win.
