British No. 1 Laura Robson is out of the China Open after a 6-1 6-2 second round defeat to seventh seed Angelique Kerber in Beijing.
Robson again suffered from errors as she was broken in the first game of the match, before handing Kerber the win with a double fault on match point a little over an hour on court. It meant the German broke to love to advance to the third round.
Defeat marks a tough week for Robson, who crashed out in the first round of the Toray Pan Pacific Open in straight sets to Ayumi Morita but responded with an opening round win over Klara Zakopalova in China.
Kerber will now face 10th seed Roberta Vinci, who came back from a set down to overhaul Shuai Zhang 3-6 6-3 6-1.
