Jo-Wilfried Tsonga moved into the fourth round at Wimbledon with some ease on Saturday, but Andy Roddick saw his tournament ended by the energetic David Ferrer on Centre Court.

Tsonga, the fifth seed, never had it all his own way but proved the better player in the big moments against Lukas Lacko, defeating him 6-4 6-3 6-3 out on Court No. 1.

Roddick, meanwhile, claimed the opening set against Ferrer but struggled for rhythm once the Spaniard began to better anticipate his opponent's serves, with the seventh seed eventually emerging a 2-6 7-6(8) 6-4 6-3 winner.

It was an impressive, all-action performance from Ferrer - who struggled initially as Roddick employed serve-and-volley tactics but soon gained the upper hand as his passing shots found their mark and his greater athleticism began to reap rewards.

Tsonga's route to the semi-finals at the All England Club have been made easier by Rafael Nadal's shock defeat earlier in the week, and the Frenchman seemed intent not to waste that surprising break as he picked apart Lacko.

He saved all three break point opportunities he gave up and converted four of the five he made, the difference in an otherwise close contest that saw both players make very few unforced errors. Tsonga will now face Mardy Fish, who came through his match against rising Belgian Daniel Goffin.

The tenth seed was stretched but never beyond breaking point, as he eventually claimed a 6-3 7-6(6) 7-6(6) win.

Ferrer, meanwhile, will come up against Juan Martin del Potro - who triumphed against Kei Nishikori in straight sets, 6-3 7-6(3) 6-1.
