Laura Robson and Heather Watson were beaten in the women's doubles at the AEGON International in Eastbourne on Thursday, going down 6-4 7-6(3) to top seeds Liezel Huber and Lisa Raymond.

The British duo came up against the top-rated Huber and Raymond who were in solid form, and despite taking the second set to a tiebreak were unable to force their opponents into a third set.

In the singles at Eastbourne fourth seed Marion Bartoli booked her spot in the semi-finals with a defeat of seventh seed Lucie Safarova 6-4 6-2, while Klara Zakopalova progressed to the last four after seeing off the challenge of Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova 6-3 7-5.

There was also WTA action taking place at the UNICEF Open in 's-Hertogenbosch, where Kim Clijsters stepped into the last four with a win against Francesca Schiavone.

Clijsters was too strong for her Italian opposite and claimed a 6-3 7-6(7) win, which secured her a semi-final spot against qualifier Urszula Radwanska who progressed thanks to a 6-2 7-6(3) win over Sofia Arvidsson.
