John Lloyd's words of support were not enough to stave off defeat

John Lloyd has admitted he will consider his future after Great Britain's defeat to Lithuania in Davis Cup tennis, amid talk that Greg Rusedski is in the frame to take over.
Britain's defeat, the fifth on the spin under Lloyd's stewardship, leaves them faced with a play-off against Turkey to avoid dropping into Europe Africa Zone Group Three - the basement of world tennis.
The absence of Andy Murray hit Britain hard, but Dan Evans and James Ward could not get the side over the line after holding a 2-1 lead ahead of the reverse singles.
Evans lost the deciding match in five sets and Lloyd felt he deserved better. "I'm absolutely devastated for Dan, he didn't play badly," Lloyd said.
There is no guarantee Murray will make himself available to face Turkey and Lloyd himself will take stock of his position in the coming days.
"I'm going to go away and think about it," he said. "I'll ask myself if I screwed up, if anyone could do the job better. I don't do this job just so I can walk around in a tracksuit saying I'm the Davis Cup captain."
Rusedski has stated in the past that he would be keen on the job and a report in the Times claims he had been sounded out about replacing Lloyd.
