Highlanders and All Blacks fullback Ben Smith is a doubt for this weekend's Crusaders match after being hospitalised in Sydney with an infection thought to have developed from a superficial leg graze.
Smith remained in hospital for treatment when the side returned home on Monday following their 44-16 loss to the Waratahs. He responded well to treatment but team doctor Greg Macleod deciding in conjunction with Sydney doctors that Smith would not fly home until Wednesday morning.
No decisions have been made on his availability to face the Crusaders.
