Adriaan Strauss banned for three weeks

Adriaan Strauss has been suspended for three weeks for an illegal tackle, ruling him out of the Springboks' fixture against a World XV in Cape Town on June 7 and the Tests against Wales in Durban and Nelspruit on the following two weekends.

Strauss was banned after pleading guilty to lifting Stormers winger Kobus van Wyk off the ground in a tackle and failing to bring him down safely. He has been replaced in the training squad by uncapped Bulls hooker Callie Visagie.

"Adriaan's suspension means we've lost another one of the leaders in our squad for some time, but this is a great opportunity for Callie," Springboks coach Heyneke Meyer said in a statement.

"Of the players who have been part of Springbok squads in the last two seasons, Scarra Ntubeni, Chiliboy Ralepelle and Tiaan Liebenberg are injured, while Schalk Brits and Craig Burden are playing in club finals this weekend and aren't available for the camp."

Strauss will be free to return for the one-off Test against Scotland in Port Elizabeth on June 28.
