O'Sullivan advances at International Open

Ronnie O'Sullivan saw off Anthony McGill 6-2 as he made a successful return to ranking event action in the first round of the International Open in China.

O'Sullivan, 37, scored breaks of 73, 80 and 52 to ease through, having not featured at a major tournament since May when he won the World Championship at the Crucible.

Mark Allen, John Higgins and Graeme Dott all advanced to the second round.

Six-time world finalist Jimmy White beat Yuan Sijun 6-4 in the initial wild card round and will face Barry Hawkins in the first round. Six-time world champion Steve Davis fell 6-1 to China's Zhao Xintong, however.
