Judd Trump fired out a warning to his rivals with a convincing 5-1 win over Nigel Bond in the Haikou Open.

Century breaks in the first and second frames set the world No. 1 on his way and despite Bond taking a bitty fourth, Trump rolled in a third century of the match to book his place in the last eight.

"I played pretty well," Trump said. "Considering the conditions are tough here and it's very hot it was one of the best games I have played. It was very warm in the arena but you just have to get on with it. My form is getting better."

Matthew Stevens won the final two frames to see off Shaun Murphy and his reward is a meeting with Trump.

Mark Selby held his nerve to book his place in the quarter-finals with a 5-1 win over Barry Hawkins. The scoreline did not tell the whole story, as there were a number of tight frames - with Selby proving the more resilient and able to take his chances when they came his way.

The final frame of the contest summed things up, as both players spurned chances - with Selby eventually getting over the line.

Selby looked set to wrap up victory only to miss a relatively straightforward red. Hawkins had a couple of chances to pinch the frame, but failed to take them after running out of position and Selby doubled a black which prompted a handshake from his opponent.

Up next for Selby is Neil Robertson who was an impressive winner over Graeme Dott.

Defending champion Mark Allen had no trouble progressing, taking out Robert Milkins 5-2, while John Higgins opened up with a century break in his 5-0 win over Stuart Bingham.

Ding Junhui proved too strong for Marco Fu, winning 5-2, while Ricky Walden became the final player to reach the last eight when knocking in a half-century in the final frame to beat Stephen Maguire 5-4.
