Barry Hawkins secured his first ranking title with victory over Peter Ebdon at the Australian Goldfields Open.

The world No. 23 dominated the former world champion to claim a 9-3 victory in Bendigo on the outskirts of Melbourne.

Hawkins was in superb form, blazing to a 4-1 lead thanks to four consecutive half-century breaks, including efforts of 106 and 114. Ebdon clawed his way back into the match to trail 5-3, but Hawkins took the last four frames to wrap up a convincing victory.

"I can't believe it, to be honest. It feels strange," Hawkins said. "I felt surprisingly calm up until the final brown, now I'm over the moon. This doesn't happen very often for me but hopefully I can keep it going."
