Stuart Lancaster has handed Luther Burrell and Jack Nowell their Test debuts ahead of England's Six Nations opener in Paris on Saturday.

Lancaster has gone with youth in the back three with Nowell partnering Jonny May, who has one cap for England, on the flanks with Chris Ashton dropping out. Burrell starts alongside Billy Twelvetrees in the centres with Danny Care edging ahead of Lee Dickson at scrum-half.

The second coming

  • This is Stuart Lancaster's second crack at an England team. Just seven players in the XV remain from the one that begun the final match of last season's Six Nations and four from Lancaster's first team selection back in 2012. Much has been done behind the scenes to ensure the players are fully aware of what it means to represent England but the time for talk is over.
  • With just 20 matches until the 2015 World Cup, Lancaster needs this England team to gel quickly. Test debuts are always a gamble, but you feel Lancaster has a good understanding of just how Nowell and Burrell will fare. If they can perform in the Stade de France in front of the baying crowd, they can flourish anywhere.

The pack has a familiar look about it with Joe Marler, Dylan Hartley and Dan Cole forming the front-row with Joe Launchbury packing down alongside Courtney Lawes in the locks. England skipper Chris Robshaw joins Billy Vunipola and Tom Wood in the back-row.

For England, they will be targeting just their second Six Nations title since 2003 and Lancaster is looking forward to seeing how his young guns fare.

"We can't wait for Saturday," Lancaster said. "We've had a good two weeks and all the players have pushed hard for selection.

"Congratulations to Jack and Luther who deserve their chance, as does Jonny May starting his first Six Nations game. It's also great to see Brad Barritt back with his experience and leadership in the 23, while Alex Goode will give us good cover at 15 and 10.

"We felt the pack went well in the autumn and it's right to leave it unchanged but we have some quality players, including two British Lions in Tom and Mako, to come on."

England:

Mike Brown, Jack Nowell, Luther Burrell, Billy Twelvetrees, Jonny May, Owen Farrell, Danny Care; Joe Marler, Dylan Hartley, Dan Cole, Joe Launchbury, Courtney Lawes, Tom Wood, Chris Robshaw (captain), Billy Vunipola

Replacements: Tom Youngs, Mako Vunipola, Henry Thomas, Dave Attwood, Ben Morgan, Lee Dickson, Brad Barritt, Alex Goode
