Waikato prop Ben Tameifuna cited for shoving referee
September 2, 2014
Waikato prop Ben Tameifuna has been cited for pushing referee Glen Jackson during the weekend's ITM Cup match between Waikato and North Habour.
The incident happened nine minutes from time when, with North Habour pressing on the try line, Tameifuna appeared to shove Jackson who had moved into his way to get a better position. The incident was noted by Citing Commissioner John Wootton.
Although not punished for that, a few minutes later Tameifuna was shown a yellow card after playing the ball on the ground.
He has been accused of breaching a rule which deems that a player "must not do anything that is against the spirit of good sportsmanship in the playing enclosure".
His case will be heard on Wednesday September 3.
