Former Ireland fly-half Ian Burns has died at the age of 58.

Burns, captain and later president of the Wanderers side, won one cap for Ireland in the 24-9 loss to England at Twickenham in 1980.

He was a noted schoolboy player, forming a strong halfback partnership with another future international John Robbie. They were key players when High School won the Leinster Senior Cup for the only time in 1973.

Burns was also a good club cricketer cricketer and played for many years with the YMCA club in Sandymount.
