Toulon manager Bernard Laporte has confirmed that Jonny Wilkinson will join the club's coaching staff next season. The move from player to coach had been expected.

"A person of his stature will undoubtedly bring something more within the coaching staff, obviously," Laporte told La Provence. "He won't necessarily travel with the team all the time because he wants to take a step back at weekends.

"He will advise the players on their technical abilities, on their handling and kicking."

Wilkinson plays his final game this weekend when Toulon meet Castres in the Top 14 play-off final.
