Wales vs. Australia: Gareth Anscombe keeps fly-half place ahead of Dan Biggar

Gareth Anscombe has kept his place at fly-half for Wales' clash with Australia on Saturday.

The Cardiff Blues back has been selected ahead of Dan Biggar, who was among a number of players to miss last weekend's 21-10 victory over Scotland.

There are three changes to the side with Worcester's John Adams a surprise selection ahead of Liam Williams to replace the injured Luke Morgan on the wing.

Elsewhere Tomas Francis is recalled in place of Dillon Lewis at tighthead prop and Adam Beard comes in for Cory Hill in the second row.

Anscombe's impressive display against Scotland has been rewarded despite the return of British & Irish Lion Biggar, who is selected among the replacements.

The Northampton No. 10 was unable to stake a claim when his club refused to release him last weekend as the international match fell outside World Rugby's Test window.

Saracens wing Williams missed out for the same reasons and is also on the bench, but Adams and Francis have come straight into the team despite also being England-based players and thus unavailable for the Scotland match.

"With selection, we wanted some continuity and to be consistent, but also mindful there are a number of players who did really well for us in the summer, and they need to be rewarded and have their opportunity," said Wales head coach Warren Gatland.

"Adam [Morgan] impressed in the summer, as did Josh [Adams], and they deserve the chance to start.

"There is a really good balance to the team, a lot of competition, which is exactly what we wanted.

"The bench is packed with quality and experience, and it will be great to see them have an impact on Saturday.

"We were pleased to get a good opening win under our belts last weekend, and this Saturday is all about building on that."

Wales are aiming to end a 13-test losing streak against the Wallabies but have won their last six matches and could mark their longest unbeaten run since 2005 if they are successful.

Wales team to play Australia: Halfpenny,  North, J. Davies, Parkes, Adams, Anscombe, G. Davies; Smith, Owens, Francis, Beard, Wyn Jones (captain), Lydiate, Tipuric, Moriarty.

Replacements: Dee, Evans, Lewis, Hill, Jenkins, T. Williams, Biggar, L. Williams.
