Italy head coach Jacques Brunel has included 20 uncapped players in his squad for next week's Six Nations training camp.
The 35-man squad is due to assemble in Parma as Brunel looks to improve on last year's single victory over Scotland in the annual tournament.
Zebre's impressive No.8 Andries van Schalkwyk is included along with teammate Carlo Canna, who has also caught the eye for the Italian outfit this season.
Italy kick off their Six Nations campaign against France in Paris on February 6 before hosting England in Rome on Valentine's Day.
