Worcester fly-half Ryan Lamb has admitted his delight at silencing former club Gloucester on Saturday even though the Warriors' have been relegated from the Aviva Premiership.
Lamb started his career with Gloucester but the fly-half slotted the winning kick for Worcester in Saturday's narrow 28-27 victory at Sixways. He then raised his finger to his lips in celebration after being heckled by the travelling support.
"One of the Gloucester fans was giving me stick behind me and I just wanted to silence them by knocking it over," said Lamb.
"I've been working hard with Paul Grayson on my kicking and striking the ball a lot better over the last couple of weeks. I've just got to carry on doing that next season."
Lamb admitted it had been satisfying to give the Warriors fans something to smile about after a traumatic season in which relegation was confirmed by last week's defeat against Saracens.
"It's great to repay the fans who have been fantastic this season. We started slowly but we bounced back with a never-say-die attitude.
"To come back and beat Gloucester like we did will stand us in good stead as we look forward to the next campaign. It'll be good to have a break and come back refreshed for pre-season."
